Fins in Pats out...Who guessed that in August? Week 17

Let us all think back to last season, the Dolphins won one game, yeah single, singular, uno, one game. Bill Parcells looks like a gift from the football gods right about now. One year later they go from 1-15 to 11-5 and the AFC East Champions, that is what is beautiful about the NFL. So all you Ram, Niner, Jag, Raider, Brown, Bengal, Chief, Lion, well maybe not Lion fans, there is hope for a quick turnaround keep that in mind. It was not easy it came down to the wire not only in the AFC East but in several divisions on the final week of the season. The Giants, Titans, Steelers, Cardinals, and Colts were the only teams despite what happened in their week 17 game could not change their seat in the playoffs. Some of these teams rested their star players which looked like the smart move after what we saw happen to Ben Roethlisberger in the 2nd quarter of the Steelers game against the uncompetitive Browns, Mike Tomlin what were you thinking. Hopefully Big Ben recovers from the concussion over the bye week. Let's get started with the AFC East:

New England vs. Buffalo: This game was comical, wind gusts at 60mph, field goals aimed 15yds to miss left and still missing by 20yds to the right. There was only 206yds passing combined by both teams, on paper it looked like a high school game. New England won 13-0 which kept their playoff hopes alive but they had to wait to see what happened in the afternoon games to see their fate.

Fantasy Minute: RBs only players worth mentioning. Morris (85yds). Jordan (64yds 1td) got the majority of New England's goal line carries the last few weeks. Jackson (136yds) solid day in Marshawn Lynch's absence, nice pick up if you swooped him up for your fantasy championship.

Miami vs. NYJ: It was so fitting that Chad Pennington had to go back to the team that ran him out of town a month before the season began and win in order to vault his new team into the playoffs. The stage was set Chad vs. Favre, Dolphins win and they are in, Jets win get some help they are in. Favre was a turnover machine in this one, at costly times too, every time it seemed the Jets were getting a little bit of momentum Favre threw another interception. Pennington was efficient as he was all season and outplayed the future hall-of-famer. Because the Dolphins won and clinched the AFC East division the Pats had to hope the Jaguars would pull the upset over the Ravens in order to get in as a wild card.

Fantasy Minute: Pennington ridiculously efficient completed 70% (200yds 2tds 0ints). Ginn Jr. (71yds 1td) spotty flashes of a bright future this season. Fasano (39yds 1td). Favre (233yds 1td 3ints, yeah 3ints) not the Brett Favre I'm sure he wants to be remembered by.

Baltimore vs. Jacksonville: This was simple for the Ravens, win and lock up the final playoff spot, or lose and the Patriots would get it. Unfortunately for the Patriots the Ravens took care of business they handled the Jags in all phases of the game, winning 27-7.

Fantasy Minute: Flacco came up big in this one (297yds but 0tds). McClain carried the load for the Ravens today (70yds 2tds). Clayton showed that the Ravens can now stretch the field (128yds on 4 rec, 32.0yd avg).

With all the divisions and wild cards in the AFC decided by 7:30pm eastern time, besides the AFC West everyones eyes were on the Chargers vs. Broncos in Sunday's night game. This one had the making of a shootout all over it, 2 high-powered offenses that can score a lot of points and 2 defenses that have not stopped too many people this year. We all remember the Hochuli call in Week 2 that gave the Broncos the 39-38 victory. 4 weeks ago the Chargers were 4-8 and looked as if they would just be playing for pride the rest of the season but as they got hot the Broncos fizzled and at SD 7-8 and Denver 8-7 this final game would decide the winner of the AFC West.

SD vs. Denver: The real Chargers showed up Sunday night. LT 3tds, defense forcing turnovers, good mix of run and pass, it looked like it took 16 weeks for Norv to finally put the pieces together for a winning recipe. SD decisively beat Denver 52-21 and this sets the stage for what should be a great game next week. Indy vs. SD, Indys won 9 straight the Chargers 4, should be fun, I'm thinking the Colts will take it in a close one, 31-28.

Fantasy Minute: Rivers solid (207yds 2tds). Sproles ridiculous (117yds 1td 17yds rec 1td). LT (96yds 3tds) now thats the LT fantasy owners loved, too bad it is week 17 and most leagues are over. Cutler most of his damage, minuscule as it was, was done in mop up time (316yds 1td 2ints). Bell (86yds 2tds) solid in a losing effort.

That does it for the AFC 1)Titans 2)Steelers 3)Dolphins 4)Chargers 5)Colts 6)Ravens and the Pats go 11-5 and miss the playoffs that's a tough one to swallow. Both road teams will be favorites: I expect Indy to beat SD and Baltimore to win a grind it out game in Miami.

Now on to the NFC. The Giants had the #1 locked up, the Cardinals had the #4 locked up, the Panthers and Falcons would be 2 or the 5 depending on how they faired in week 17, the 3 would go to either the Bears or the Vikings and the 6 to either the Bears, Vikings, Cowboys, Bucs, or Eagles. Gotta love the NFL right. There was about a 5 minute period during the ending of the early games where I was literally changing the channel non-stop to catch the outcome of these games. In a sentence here is what happened: The Bears chumped it up against the Texans, the Vikings kicked a last second field goal to beat the Giants, the Panthers kicked a last second field goal to beat the Saints, and the Bucs let the Raiders handle them on their home turf. This made the Cowboy vs. Eagles game a control your own destiny game for both teams.

Philadelphia vs. Dallas: I could not have been more happy with what happened in this game. The Eagles destroyed, obliterated, annihilated, there are so many adjectives to use, the Eagles flat out beat the Cowboys. This is exactly what Jerry Jones deserves. He pieced together this fantasy team with 13 pro-bowlers, a team that every NFL analyst in America thought they were the clear cut favorite to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, and look what happens to the Cowboys on the last week of the season in a game that they controlled their own destiny in, nothing tricky, you win you are in, they get spanked and lose 44 to 6. I really don't think this one was very hard to predict either, just look at the experience of the 2 teams, McNabb vs. Romo, McNabb consecutive NFC Championships and he has gone to a Super Bowl, Romo has not proven that he can win in December or win in the playoffs, remember the botched snap against Seattle 2 years ago, or the loss to the Giants last year, Romo has yet to prove that he belongs in the playoffs. I feel bad because I like the guy, I like Tony Romo, he has great talent, he is in a terrible environment. I feel Jerry Jones is most responsible for the disappointing season the Cowboys just posted. Hey Jerry don't bring in someone like Pacman Jones, I know you love all the attention on the Cowboys, but you've got to realize negative attention is not good attention. And Jerry, don't give up a 1st, 3rd, and 6th round pick for a WR like Roy Williams, who is, if you don't remember a number 2 WR on the worst team in football. And then you pay him like an all-pro and he has had what? 20 catches in 10 games. This was a major panic move, Romo got hurt that was the problem. Bringing in Roy Williams was not going to help Brad Johnson or Brooks Bollinger, all it did was hurt the Cowboys chances in the draft because they gave up so many picks for him and spend a lot of money on a player who is quite frankly not worth it. Building a quality team starts at the top and Jerry, I'm sorry man but, you are the first to blame for all of this.

Now that we are done with the Dallas Cowboy saga, sweet its the playoffs we don't have to talk about them for another year. Atlanta will travel to Arizona and Philadelphia will travel to Minnesota. Both home teams should be underdogs and I expect Philly to handle business in Minnesota relatively easy and I expect the Falcons to win a close one in Arizona, sorry Warner you are my boy but I like Atlanta in this matchup because of that kid Ryan and with Turner running the way he is.

Sorry I did not go into fantasy too much this week I felt it was unnecessary because most leagues should have been over with by week 16's end. Stay tuned for my 2009 top fantasy projections at each position. Here's the Mikey Waa Fantasy Awards for 2008. Will the real Giants and Titans please stand up. Week 16 in the NFL

Indy vs. Jacksonville: When you looked at the schedule to start the season most people would have guessed this might be the game to decide the AFC South, but then the Titans did what they did, Indy had a rough start and Jacksonville and Houston have been inconsistent to say the least all season. The game started strong for Jacksonville as it has a few times this year and ended the way it has the majority of the time. Garrard was solid until they really needed him late in the game and he was intercepted, and Peyton Manning played like the MVP he should win this year rallying a 3-4 Indy team stringing together 8 wins without practically any running game.

Fantasy Minute: Garrard not bad in a losing effort (329yds 1td 1int 9yds rush 1td). Northcutt's biggest game of the year (101yds 1td). Jones-Drew huge but no scores (91yds rush 70yds rec). Peyton Manning played like the MVP locked up a playoff berth (364yds 3tds). Rhodes (27yds rush 62yds 1td rec). Wayne and Clark had monster games (108yds 1td & 105yds 1td). By the way Clark got robbed not making the pro bowl this year. Tony Gonzalez definitely deserved it but Gates had an off year.

Baltimore vs. Dallas: Nice run D Dallas, McGahee and McClain breaking them off...what? What happened to that defensive performance you laid on the champs last week? You looked like a playoff team then, now not so much. Luckily the Eagles choked against the Skins so you still control your own destiny next week. Big-ups to Mason playing with one arm and clowning on those Dallas DBs.

Fantasy Minute: I'll take back what I said last week and give Tashard Choice his props (90yds 1td rush, 25yds rec). Didn't expect Barber to sit again in a game with so much playoff impilcations, Marion c'mon man. Big-ups Baltimore run game McClain (139yds 1td) McGahee (108yds 1td rush, 21yds rec). Romo (252yds 2tds 2ints) don't throw picks you put your D in too many tough situations, but you helped out Ed Reed's chance at Defensive Player of the Year.

NYG vs. Carolina: Sorry Giants for crowning the Panthers with the best O-line in football, the real Giants showed up this week. 300yds on the ground with Jacobs and Ward, that's the Champs I remember. It's nice when these 1 vs. 2 games live up to what they are supposed to be thanks for the great game. And thanks Tom Coughlin for going for the TD in overtime I hate kickers so I hate games ending in field goals.

Fantasy Minute: Steve Smith is human (47yds 0tds) I was beginning to think he wasn't. Jacobs and Ward (302yds 3tds combined) congrats if you had either of them. Sucks for you or great for you if you played against or are the owner of Deangelo Williams, luckily in my league he was playing in the third place game and I was playing in the first place game (108yds 4tds, yeah 4tds). Deangelo is making a hard push to break into my top five RBs for next season but its still gonna be hard to put him there with AP, Turner, Jacobs and so on.

Tennessee vs. Pittsburgh: Will the 11-0 Titans please stand up, Thank you very much. That is the Titans that I remember, not the team that lost to the New York Bretts or the chump-Texans. Here is some advice for those two flashy RBs though a.) Johnson do not taunt Polamalu when you are running into the end zone he will remember that if you happen to meet again in the playoffs and b.) Lendale do not stomp a Pittsburgh terrible towel on camera and give quality bulletin board material like that. When running at a defense like that in the playoffs I would not like to be in your shoes knowing that Troy Polamalu has that in the back of his mind. Kerry Collins great throws down the stretch, Collins and Gage have proven that they can be a dangerous combination that needs to be keyed on by defenses. Roethlisberger c'mon man 4 fumbles, that is not a winning recipe.

Fantasy Minute: Roethlisberger (331yds 2tds 2ints 4funbles 2lost) not very pretty. Ward (109yds 1td) thanks for another great week Hines in my fantasy championship. Holmes solid as well (93yds 1td). Johnson and White solid not stellar (69yds 1td & 48yds 1td). Gage clutch all season (104yds 1td).

Philadelphia vs. Washington: Philly c'mon you gave Dallas another chance and its so disappointing because I actually thought you were the one team in the NFC that had the best chance to go to the Meadowlands in the playoffs and beat the champs. I think Philly may finally go out and get a WR or two for McNabb this offseason, Desean's 4 drops including one in the end zone on the final drive may be the motivation for what Philly really needs.

Fantasy Minute: Not much offense in a 10-3 ball game. Westbrook (45yds rush 71yds rec). Portis (70yds 1td).

Atlanta vs. Minnesota: Matt Ryan you have got some stones kid, big-ups, that dive was gnarly, luckily your team got on the lose football. Congrats on the best rookie QB play throughout a season since Dan Marino. Minnesota I think you will hang on and win the NFC North but you have to clean up your fumbling trouble real quick or you will get bounced out by a wild card team, that includes you Mr. Cashier Adrian Peterson. This week you made your team pay a little more than the other team.

Fantasy Minute: Turner average day with the standards we now have for you (70yds 1td). AP very un-APlike (68yds 0tds) thanks I was playing your owner in the fantasy championship. TE of the week and he is available in over 50% of leagues, painful. Shiancoe (136yds 2tds).

New England vs. Arizona: Arizona on the east coast in the snow = disaster. Like 47-7 disaster. So bad of a disaster there was a Matt Leinart sighting on the field.

Fantasy Minute: If you had anyone worth owning on the Pats you got some sort or production, I even got 17pts from the kicker. Cassel (345yds 3tds) by the way I would have put him in the pro bowl before Jay Cutler. Fitzgerald the one bright spot for AZ (101yds 1td). By the way I benched LT for Sammy Morris in my fantasy championship and it was the right move. LT maybe not even a top 10 pick next season.

Miami vs. KC: It is absolutely not pretty but Miami you are getting the job done. These close wins will help you out in the playoffs, just take care of business next week against NYJ. Pennington big-ups you have showed your worth down the stretch, I can't wait to see what you do this Sunday against your old team.

Fantasy Minute: Tyler Thigpen don't know what to say, here's his numbers (320yds 2tds 3ints 57yds rush 1td). Tony very Gonzalez-like (64yds 1td). LJ solid (108yds 1td). Darling...who? (69yds 1td) he was the Dwayne Bowe this week. Ted Ginn nice reverse (31yd rush td 44yds rec).

NYJ vs. Seattle: Mangini-us you have let your team collapse. Didn't you beat Tennessee a few weeks ago? Too many bad coaching calls to count, tune into Skip Bayless he won't blame Favre he will tell it like it is. When the season came down to it look what happened, the guy that was mad about Favre coming in and his best friend Chad was run out of New York, Laveranues Coles dropped the pass, coincidence......you be the judge.

Fantasy Minute: Jones brothers not worth mentioning, top back in this one Morris (116yds).

SD vs. TB & Den vs. Buf: I am writing about these game together because it has led to what to me is by far the most intriguing game next weekend. SD beat TB putting them at 7-8, Buffalo beat Denver putting Denver at 8-7. SD and Denver will play for the AFC West next weekend which they rightfully should, think back to the game Referee Ed Hochuli blew for SD early this year. It is justice that they get to play this game to determine who makes the playoffs, as long as Hochuli is not calling the game. I dislike both Rivers and Cutler but SD deserves the playoffs way more than Denver, blowing a 3-game lead in the division with 4 games to go is so pathetic, there is nothing more I would wish upon Jay Cutler after running his mouth about John Elway and Brett Favre. Hey Cutler you are in your third year do not mention yourself in the same sentence as those guys.

Fantasy Minute: Cutler (359yds 1int 30yds rush 2tds) I still don't like you though. Marshall solid (129yds). Rivers exceptional in a must win (287yds 4tds). LT (90yds rush 20yds rec). Gates clutch in the red zone (43yds 2tds). Bryant by far the best fantasy WR in the league the past month (127yds 1td).

Houston vs. Oakland: I thought I would just be able to say Oakland enough said but I can't. Oakland showed they do have some firepower and Houston struggled to get the ball in the end zone.

Fantasy Minute: Daniels (111yds) top 5 TE next season. Jamarcus not very Jamarcus like (236yds 2tds 0ints, yeah 0ints). Chaz Schilens, who??? (52yds 1td). Higgins, who??? (56 yds 1td + 1td return).

New Orleans vs. Detroit: It's the Lions. It's just another loss. There is not motivation there.

Fantasy Minute: So many to list I'll start with Detroits one bright spot Smith (111yds 1td). Brees (351yds 2tds) He needs 402yds next week at home vs. Carolina to break Dan Marino's single season yardage record. Thomas (77yds 1td 26yds rec) consistent for over a month now, making his case for more playing time next season even with a healthy Reggie Bush. McAllister (61yds 1td). Colston (99yds 2tds) the Colston fantasy owners know and love. Bell and Meachem also both had TDs but if you play them you are obviously not smart or someone who would read something about fantasy football.

Cincinnati vs. Cleveland: Cleveland five straight games without and offensive TD, bleak very bleak.

Fantasy Minute: Any Cleveland player on your fantasy team = disappointment. Cedric Benson, yeah Cedric Benson (171yds) by the way he got 38 carries, not that hard when you only have 9 pass attempts and you are playing the Browns defense.

SF vs. St. Loius: The Rams should have had this game Shaun Hill was trying to give them the game and a desperate heave late in the game that 3 Ram DBs had a chance at somehow was caught. Oh well looks like St. Louis locked up that number 2 draft pick.

Fantasy Minute: Only people worth starting in this game Jackson (108yds) and big-ups to Isaac Bruce (61yds 1td) on his way to the Hall of Fame got his 1,000th reception and passed Tim Brown for #2 on the all-time receiving yardage list, the only LA RAM left in the league, that's my boy.

Chicago vs. Green Bay: Green Bay had this game but left the door open. The blocked field goal at the close of that game summed up what has happened to the Packers this season.

Fantasy Minute: Rodgers did what he could (260yds 2tds 1int) he will be a top 5 QB draft in your league next season. Ryan Grant (61yds rush 20yds rec 1td) underachieved this season definitely not a top 15 RB next season. Jennings decent not great for his standards (38yds 1td). Forte (73yds 1td 28yds rec) definitely top 10 RB next season. Olsen solid game (49yds 1td).

Next Week: Games to pay attention to, Dallas vs. Philly, if Dallas wins they are in. Denver vs. SD in the Hochuli Bowl, one game to determine who wins the division. Chad vs. Brett Dolphins vs. Jets for the AFC East, if Dolphins win they are in, if the Jets win they need the Pats to lose as well and they are in.

Fantasy Extra Minute: For all of you out there who have a bad comissioner and set your fantasy league for a 17 week season change it next year to 16 or play in a 16 week league next year, here is why: What if you have Peyton Manning and Brandon Jacobs, they got you to the Championship and they will not even play this week. Realize how much that sucks and do not play in a 17 week league next year. If you happen to play in a 17 week league here are some adds for those holes in your lineup: Cedric Benson vs. KC he has been the Bengals only offense as of late. New Orleans WRs like Devery Henderson or Lance Moore, Brees will be going for Marino's record and will be chucking it all game. At QB Tavaris Jackson vs. a resting NYG team or Tyler Thigpen against Cinci, only do this if you have Peyton Manning or Kurt Warner because they will probably be sitting this week, if you don't own either of those guys stick with the QB that got you to the Championship.

Mike Roy on Week 15 in the NFL

NYG vs. Dallas: All week we heard about the soap opera that is the Dallas Cowboys. It seemed all the reigning Super Bowl Champion New York Giants did this week was watch ESPN like the rest of us fixated on the ongoing dispute between Tony Romo, Jason Witten, and Terrel Owens. This showed on Sunday because the Giants did little preparation offensively which showed through the 8, yeah that's right 8, sacks that Eli Manning suffered. Now that the Giants have dropped two straight against divisional foes the questions about the champs missing Brandon Jacobs and Plaxico Burress are circulating. Instead about hearing from ESPN about the distractions these teams are having like Plaxico shooting himself, and Romo liking Witten more than T.O. why don't they focus on what really happened, the Cowboys handled the Giants on the football field. The Cowboys did so without their big name back Marion Barber hardly contributing. Tashard Choice? why aren't you talking about him? or Patrick Crayton of that fullback Anderson? right who? They were catching touchdowns. Not Witten. Not T.O.

Fantasy Minute: If you started anyone on the Giants then you obviously did not put up many points. Tony Romo put up a solid week (244yds, 2td, 0ints). If you play in a deep league and needed a third back Tashard Choice was a risky but lucky play (91yds rush, 1td, 52yds rec), but I would not recommend playing him next week against Baltimore who held Willie Parker in check (47yds on 14att).

Pittsburgh vs. Baltimore: Get over the call to finish the game, anyone who is officiating in the NFL knows the game better than anyone who is talking about it the day after. It was a touchdown Santonio Holmes caught the ball it crossed the plane of the goaline that makes it a touchdown, end of discussion. You know what makes this so annoying of a story is, it neglects the plays Ben Roethlisberger made during that last drive because all that is getting talked about is that call. Big Ben made great throw after throw all the way down the field to Ward, Washington, and Holmes.

Fanatsy Minute: Playing against defenses like this you can not expect much but thanks Hines Ward (107yds rec). And if you are this deep in your fantasy playoffs and started Joe Flacco (115yds, 0tds, 2ints) hopefully you got what you deserved a Loss. Don't play rookie QBs in fantasy football ask Matt Ryan owners how they faired yesterday (206yds, 0tds, 2ints)

Denver vs. Carolina: Carolina O-line the new best line in football. I know it was Denver this week = garbage run D any legitimate RB will have a big day against them, but they laid 300yds on Tampa Bay last week that = legit. and with who? Jonathan Stewart and Deangelo Williams, not exactly Fred Taylor and Jones-Drew or AP and Chester Taylor. Give that O-line credit 450 yds on the ground in two weeks.

Fantasy Minute: So mad Steve Smith was suspended to start the season or I would have drafted him (165yds, 1td). Most underrated WR in the league Steve Smith = gamebreaker.

Minnesota vs. Arizona: Hey AZ hungover from the first time you won anything? Well get ready you are about to win one game in the playoffs, if you are lucky, and then get poked when you have to go to the Meadowlands or to Carolina. Letting Tarvaris Jackson, yeah the same QB who was benched for Gus Frerotte, he threw four TDs in 11 completions. Tarvaris Jackson (supposed to) = garbage, Tarvaris Jackson vs. AZ defense = All Pro. AZ people get enough disappointment with the Suns, try and show up next week.

Fantasy Minute: AP did what AP does (165yds). Warner not so Warneresque this week but not bad (270yds, 1td, 1int). AZ RBs don't play them = disappointment.

New England vs. Oakland: Enough said it's New England vs. Oakland. Big-ups to Matt Cassel following fathers death great game.

Fantasy Minute: You know whats sad is the right play this week would have been to play Sammy Morris over LT, yeah painful to say bench LT against KC that would have been my optimal lineup this week, brutal. Matt Cassel (218yds, 4tds, 1int) awesome don't expect it next week, oh wait they play AZ remember what Tarvaris did, ok expect it. If you start anyone on the Raiders you are not a smart fantasy player but you got lucky this week with McFadden (114 total yds, 1td) or Higgins (66yds, 1td) unsmart but lucky plays. If you are a Randy Moss owner hes practically impossible to bench because on Sunday he showed you what Randy Moss can do (67yds, 2tds).

Buffalo vs. NYJ: Brett Favre did what Brett Favre sometimes does, big-ups to the hall of famer but sometimes he works against your team just as bad as the other team, hard to say one of my top 5 QBs of all time but thats how it went Sunday. Luckily brilliant play calling from Buffalo gave the NYJ the game with 2 min to go. If Dick Jauron is not put on the C'mon Man segment of Monday Night Countdown then they should remove that segment because I can not think of anyone more deserving following Sundays games. Do not put the ball in JP Losmans hands, Marshawn Lynch already has 120yds rushing, hand him the freakin' ball.
Dick Jauron = worst call of the day.

Fantasy Minute: Thomas Jones solid not stellar (78yds, 1td) we expected a little more against Buffalo. Marshawn Lynch score a td and you would make my RB of the week (127yds).

Tampa Bay vs. Atlanta: Tampa Bay you do not deserve the playoffs after your performance the past two weeks, blown out of the water by Carolina and beaten closely by a young up and coming Atlanta team. Enjoy January on your couch at home.

Fantasy Minute: Michael Turner did what we are getting used to Michael Turner doing (153yds, 1td). Antonio Bryant fantasy owners in the playoffs are lucky to have him (300yds, 3tds) in the past two games.

San Diego vs. KC: 21-3 KC, to 22-21 SD, brutal KC you made Philip Rivers look good. We'll see what happens in that division SD or Denver, who cares whoever wins it is gonna lose to Indy first round of the playoffs. AFC west = does not deserve a playoff spot.

Fanatsy Minute: Get this I have 5 RBs on my fantasy roster LT, Jones-Drew, Pierre Thomas, Sammy Morris, Chester Taylor, would any expert ever guess LT against KC would be my least productive back this week, absolutley not. c'mon LT me along with every other person with the first pick in their fantasy league is hurting. It is the championship of my fantasy league next week to play, or not to play? Vincent Jackson, Chris Chambers, Malcom Floyd, you are all the exact same player, Rivers goes eeny meeny miny mo let this guy go off this week, good luck if you have any of them, this week Jackson good game (89yds, 1td).

Miami vs. SF: Give credit to Singletary he's got the 49ers who have nothing to play for looking like they are playing for something, but unfortunately for them they were playing the Dolphins who are deadlocked atop the AFC east and they played like it. Big-ups to Chad Pennington who got run out of New York and has put up a better season then the hall of famer who replaced him, one of my top 3 MVP candidates this season. Big-ups to Joey Porter making the sack that put the game out of reach for SF, Porter my top candidate for Defensive Player of the Year (but keep your helmet on).

Fantasy Minute: Sorry to Ronnie Brown owners, you should have gotten a better performance from him against SF (67yds, 0tds).

Seattle vs. St. Louis: Battle of 2-11s who do you bet on? ummm...yea that hard to decide sorry anyone who knows me knows how big a Ram fan I am but at this point I am thinking about draft position, so thanks Seattle.

Fantasy Minute: Only two players in this game worth starting Jackson and Holt both solid games in a losing effort (91yds, 1td & 67yds, 1td).

Wash vs. Cincinnati: Congrats 'Skins you have successfully ended your season against one the worst teams in the league. Portis don't talk bad about Jim Zorn get back to running the way you were the first half of the year, remember you were in the MVP talk then, you have fallen of the map, c'mon man, run like you're from the U.

Fantasy Minute: Only person worth mentioning Ryan Fitzpatrick, yeah Ryan Fitzpatrick (209yds pass, 1td, 29yds rush, 1td).

Detroit vs. Indy: Enough said Daniel Orlovsky vs. Peyton Manning. Detroit nice try but it's just another loss.

Fantasy Minute: Congrats to Dallas Clark owners he may have won you a playoff game this week (142yds, 1td). Peyton Manning being THE MANning (318yds, 1td) sorry Eli :(

Green Bay vs. Jax: I feel sorry for Green Bay and Aaron Rodgers particularly. Yup, Favre in the hunt, GB out, well Favre is only in the hunt because of the dreadful play calling by the Buffalo Bills because Favre did not do anything on Sunday to help the NYJ in their win.

Fantasy Minute: Jones-Drew you have nothing to play for but man you are doing work, Thanks I started you and will never sit you no matter who you play Jones-Drew = game changer (48yds rush, 1td, 22yds rec, 1td) By the way he leads all RBs in receiving 5'7 but plays like he is 6'7.

Tennessee vs. Houston: Houston is playing awesome, they physically beat a more physical team. At 11-0 Tennessee hands down looked like the best team in the league, just a few weeks later they look like the third best team in the conference maybe not even top 5 in the league. Jeff Fisher good call not kicking it with Bironas, if it's out of his range then it's out of his range you have been a good coach in this league for too long then to let Skip Bayless second guess you, unfortuantely Kerry Collins didn't move the chains. But, you better get your team ready for Pittsburgh and Indy if you play the way you did this week you will lose by a lot more.

Fantasy Minute: I may start Matt Schaub over Kurt Warner next week in my fantasy championship, thats how good the Texans are playing. Plus they have arguably the best WR in the league Andre Johnson. Sorry if you were expecting big things from the Titans White - Johnson combination but "Smash and Dash" only put up 91yds combined and 0tds. Texans Johnson (207yds, 1td) WR of the week.

Chicago vs. New Orleans: Sorry Brees, individually you have had a great season one of the best yardage seasons the NFL has ever seen, but Sean Payton should reevaluate this because all of those yards have not translated to victories. Records are great and all but when they translate to victories Marino threw for 5,084 yards in one season, he also took his team to a Super Bowl that year, go watch some tape on Don Shula coaching a high-flying winning offense, that may help your situation come playoff time next season.

Fantasy Minute: Reggie Bush c'mon man (46yds combined rush & rec). Drew Brees so so (232 yds, 2tds, 2ints). Big-ups Pierre Thomas (87yds rush, 1td, 59yds rec, 1td), great late season pick-up if he is still available in your league swoop him up. Colston (84yds, 1td) it's about time you showed up, sorry you were injured but thanks you did what you were supposed to.

Cleveland vs. Philadelphia: Congrats Cleveland you scored your first touchdown in almost four games, thank Kevin Kolb for throwing you that pick 6 in mop up time or you would have lost 30-3. Still no offensive tds, c'mon Dorsey weren't you from the U, get in the end zone.

Fantasy Minute: Edwards solid (102yds) too bad your team never scores. Avant solid (101yds).
Andy Reid you made fantasy owners who have McNabb and Westbrook cry this week, leave them in let them run it up, Kevin Kolb won't mind. McNabb solid (290yds, 2tds, 0ints). Westbrook dismall (67yds combined rush & rec).
